I just made this chocolate peanut butter cake with peanut butter icing
and chocolate peanut butter Ganache.
It was a real challenge and didn't turn out the way I thought it would but it was a lot of fun learning this Ganache recipe.
I love trying new recipes and having never made a ganache before, it was a learning experience.
Adding the crushed Kit Kat Bites on top of the cake and the whole Kit Kat Bites around the bottom really made the chocolate peanut butter cake look good.
Here's the cake recipe and there are links below to the icing and ganache recipes.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
You
will need a large mixing bowl, a one and a 1/2 cup measuring cups, a spatula, 9x13 inch baking dish, and a cake plate to put the cake on.
Make sure you have everything before you begin.
Once I took the cake out of the pan, I cut it in half to make a chocolate peanut butter layer cake. I added a new peanut butter cream cheese icing that I found and put it between the layers and also covered the cake in it. It looked really good and I should have stopped there to decorated it. But I didn't. I wanted to try making the Chocolate Peanut Butter Ganache. Well, to make a long story short, It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. The Ganache was to hot when I added it to the icing so it all ran down the cake pulling the icing with it. Next time I will make sure it is cooled before add it. |

I ended up mixing the icing and the Ganache together and once it cooled it was a lot easier to fix the cake. |

Here is an alternative that uses sour cream in the mix from Jen's Favorite Cookies that I think you will like.
