These O Henry Bars taste just like the chocolate bars you buy at the store.
The best thing about making them yourself is that you can add more chocolate coating or more peanut butter and you can decorate them however you like.
This recipe said to melt only 1 cup of chocolate for the coating but I found it just wasn't enough, so I doubled it.
You can never have enough chocolate!
I topped of the bars with some melted peanut butter wafers drizzled over top to add something a little different.
I also added a couple of Hersey Kisses and chocolate hearts.
You will need a large mixing bowl, a
large spoon for mixing, double boiler or a bowl and sauce pan, a 9x13
baking dish, and an air tight container.
Grease or spray with non-stick spray, the baking dish and set aside.
Make sure you have everything before you begin.
Mix together in large mixing bowl:
I used a freezer bag and a rolling pin to crush the Rice Krispies and peanuts. Set this mixture aside.
Next, in a double boiler, or a bowl over a pan of simmering water, melt but not to boil:
Quickly pour into first mixture and mix well. Spread in the 9x13 inch greased dish.
Melt the chocolate chips and spread over the Rice Krispie mixture. I cut them into squares before they cooled off but you can wait until the chocolate has hardened. I find them a lot easy to cut when still soft.
