I love a peanut butter cake. The only thing that makes it any better is topping it off with chocolate peanut butter icing.
When I was a little girl growing up, my mom would make a peanut butter sheet cake with peanut butter icing. It was so good. It's my dad's favorite so every year on his birthday she would make it for him.
One trick she would do was to take the change she had in her purse and wrap the individual coins in tin foil to hide them in the cake.
After the cake was baked she would use a butter knife and make small slits in the cake to put the money in. When the icing was added you couldn't see what was hiding inside.
It was always a big hit with us kids and now I carry on the tradition. I would do the same thing for my kids as they were growing up and I still do it for my grandkids. Even my sister's kids would ask me to make their birthday cakes because they know I would hide money in them.
I love making animal shapes out of my cakes for my daughter's birthdays. They are easy to make and the kids love them. The pictures on this page are just some of the cakes I have made over the years.

Another idea is to take your best cake recipe and add peanut butter. Say for example you have an awesome banana cake recipe; try adding a 1/2 cup of peanut butter to the mixture. If it gets to thick, try adding a little milk until it is the right texture for pouring into a baking dish. Mmmm so good.
Tip:
If you buy a cake mix in a box, sometimes they seem a little dry. Try
adding a tablespoon of mayonnaise to the batter before you put it in the
oven.
It will make your cake super moist and everyone will rave about it.
Peanut butter frosting is great for any kind of cake. Whether it's a PB cake, chocolate cake, marble cake, or any of your favorite cakes, it will make it incredible.
Chocolate and peanut butter go hand-in-hand, so try a chocolate peanut butter frosting. Mixing cocoa into your peanut butter frosting will give chocolate lovers a special treat.
Here is a list of the different ones I have tried.
A new icing treat:
Arrange chocolate peppermint patties in a single layer on top of your
baked peanut butter cake. Return it to the oven for about a minute. When
the patties are soft,
spread them with a spatula.
