Peanut Butter Two Tone Brownies
Two Tone Brownies
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
In large bowl combine first 5 ingredients.
With a knife, cut in butter until mixture is like a coarse crumbs.
Press evenly into greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or other favorite nuts)
Chocolate Nut Layer:
In double boiler over hot water, melt the chocolate and peanut butter.
Remove from heat and blend in the sugar and eggs.
Stir in flour, mixing well and then stir in vanilla and nuts.
Pour evenly over warm oatmeal layer.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until firm.
1 cup Peanut butter chips
Sprinkle peanut butter chips over the hot brownies and let stand for about 5 minutes.
Carefully spread peanut butter evenly over brownies.
Cool completely before cutting into squares.
If you prefer, omit the glaze and spread cooled brownies with peanut butter icing before cutting.
Here is a recipe for Peanut Butter Icing
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 tbsp peanut butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
4-6 tbsp milk
Combine all ingredients
Add the milk slowly until of the right consistency.
